Do you know what I love about living in Colorado?
The way the air changes when fall displaces summer. The air is crisper, but not the sometimes surprising bite of winter. It feels lighter, in a way, like the pressure of the summer heat added a weight to bear. It even smells different. The smells of wood stoves mixed with falling leaves and the unique scent that cold early mornings emanate.
When I start feeling those changes in the air, I know it’s time to change the menu here at La Tour. While summer is the right time for sitting on the patio having a glass of wine while enjoying the sights and sounds of Vail, fall is the time for bigger meals, sweet late harvest wines, and comfort food.
Start your evening off with our newest appetizer, Lobster, Apple, and Jicama. If you’re looking for a great soup on a crisp fall evening, we’ve kept our Truffle French Onion Soup on the menu for fall. It will warm you up, and leave you ready for your hearty entrée.
We’ve added a Vermouth Apple Braised Pork Shank to the menu, as a way to celebrate those glorious fall fruits and veggies. This mouth watering pork shank is cooked with celery root, apples, parsnips and carrots. It’s the perfect fall entrée.
You’ll need some wine to help keep your warm during our first cold snap. We serve twenty wines by the glass, but our complete wine list offers over three hundred and fifty vintages available by the bottle. Our wines are incomparable to others available in Vail, and we’re proud to offer vintages from Spain, Oregon, and Italy, as well as France.
After you’ve enjoyed your dinner, don’t miss the Warm Apple Date Pecan Pudding Cake. This cake is everything that’s delicious about fall. Warm deserts brimming with fruits are the perfect dessert for a crisp autumn evening!
I hope that you enjoy fall in Vail as much as we do at La Tour. I’m looking forward to seeing you stop by so you can enjoy some of our new fall menu items!
